Ageing chrome?

After putting up with the buzzing tune-o-matic bridge on my 1986 Epiphone Casino for nearly 27 years I finally decided to get a replacement. After much research on the interweb I managed to get a Gotoh replacement (with no rattly retaining wire) from a shop in New York for £18 delivered. It arrived last week and sat straight onto the posts perfectly but I then realized that the shiny new chrome sticks out like a sore thumb next to the dull, almost yellowing pickup covers and tail-peace. Can anyone out there let me know if there is an easy way of ageing chrome for the absolute beginner or will I have to bite the bullet and get a nickel one? Thanks.

I used fine wet n dry paper and was happy enough for my purposes.

    Nickel ages much better.

You will never get chrome to look the same as nickel - it's not that it's 'new and shiny', it's a fundamentally different metal with a different reflection spectrum. Nickel has a 'yellow' tone, chrome has a 'white' or even slightly 'blue' tone.
