Crafter

What's Hot
My ridiculous convoluted search for an acoustic that I can play and like continues - tonight in my local shop I played a Crafter TC035

It's bloody lovely - big wide board - £355 - LRbaggs pickup and Gucci LCD tuner - good reviews - whats not to like?

Korean made?

Anyone here have any thoughts on crafter as a brand or even this model

one or two folks at the folk orchestra play crafters (mostly cos they don't want to bring their nice acoustics to a room where it may get an old person fall on it) and they sound fine (unplugged). Certainly good enough to bashing out a few chords. When I get myself sorted I will try one as I'm a bit wary of taking my nice acoustic there (plus to pub sessions) sometimes as well.

  • Yeah

See I only want this for some lame ass acoustic duet I've got roped into

I hate acoustics - they are like kryptonite to me, but this could earn me some more bread so I need to bite the bullet

it's odd, all the words are English, yet arranged thusly they make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  • If you're after a budget acoustic it's worth checking out Sigma and Breedlove. Crafter has always been one of those brands I ignore cause I'm a snob. Price point wise I think you'd get something that has far better resale value with a name on it.

Great value acoustics. Well made and sound good. Nothing to scoff at imo.

OK- I will surprise a few here- I bought a Crafter Convoy DX PRS alike in Thailand.

It was utterly stunning, seriously. I was blown away by it. Great flame top, compensated wrap tail, great build...and cost me £125.

Sold it to young Suliman- my mate's son.

  • If you can find a second hand Crafter you can often get a good deal.  To my mind, they don't seen to hang on to their value so much (possibly caused by snobbishness... as someone here mentioned).

Do you mean Eastern European call girl style guitar stands?   You'd be surprised I tell you.

The shop I used to work in stocked Crafter.  It was probably one of the best selling acoustics we did.  I think they're great for the money. And I can't remember ever having one returned.

Crafter make excellent guitars and sell a lot to their own home market. They have a very high profile in Korea and providing providing instrument to top Korean pop-stars... who do use them.

A singer called 'IU' who is probably the biggest solo artist in the country, is often seen playing her customised Crafter electro-acoustic on the TV over there.

I never knew crafter were a brand that guitarists looked down on?

Only thing I don't like on that acoustic is the headstock size.

On another note, I haven't heard much from Katie Melua recently? If memory serves me right, Justin Sandecoe taught her to play.

If you speak to the trade they cite Crafter as the one far eastern co trying to do it 'right'. They want their own brand, own stockists, they are family owned and they've longevity of staff etc.....

Apparently they've never made for anyone else either, just their own brand.

  • Yeah I'll put a bit more up on it at some point.

So I used it at our rehearsal last night for the acoustic duo im doing.

Like all acoustics its a bitch to play, but a lot better than most of the others i have played!. It s beautifully made and finished to  very high standard. The LR Baggs preamp etc is nicely adjustable and the on board tuner is very bright and clear - it sounds very nice

My fingers f*cking hurt today as does my wrist from pressing down so bloody hard. Lord knows what strings are on it - the feel like 14's!

It has a lespaul nut width which is nice

Its a brown lump of wood that wont go into howling feedback when you hit a G7 - I cant get excited about it. Its like a drill or a lawnmower> i dont really want one, but i need one!

    Im such a luddite
