    It's odd - I like quite a lot of what would be called folk music, but every time I've tried to watch this I've found it terminally boring and samey, no matter who the guest is. I don't think I've ever managed to watch it all the way through - I've definitely fallen asleep more than once, if I haven't just got fed up and watched something else.

    I can only assume it's either the house band or the way it's produced that are the problem. Sorry...

    heh, in that context the slide guitar works well, but when it's a traditional Irish or Scottish song then it grates on me a bit. Fortunately last night, the dobro playing was a bit more restrained.

    Watched a bit of it as it had Mary Chapin Carpenter on but she was relegated to bv's on the bits I saw. I also kept imagining Mrs Doyle watching it with a cup of tea and saying 'lovely.'
