    Didn't work ;)

And thanks, guys - always good to get positive feedback. The thought of people listening to stuff I've written terrifies me the approval-seeking little kid in me...

    Excellent work.

  • Reminds me of lacuna coil, nice. Am I imagining things or is this the same track you posted a rehearsal recording of?

Cheers - no, you're not imagining things. We just wanted to get a decent demo recording down. Once we've got the gig out of the way, we'll record the rest of what we've got at the moment and (hopefully) have half an album done :)

Not the sort of thing I normally listen to, but I really like this.  I can understand why you are so pleased with the band

Having the the bass more audible really puts the guitar lines in context in the clean bits and also does your singers voice justice. Gives the whole thing a different feel. It's sounding really good.

Will def be interested in hearing more.

    Sounds nice Lee!

I'd be interested in mixing the stems if you're game??

  • Nice work!   The guitar sits right in the mix perfectly to my ears.

Great stuff !   (Not too sure about the singer's note targeting, sounds flat to my cloth ears, and in a lot of places - it's very raw sounding, might be the recording/treatment)

    A superb tune though.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

  • well done. love the light & shade. question: if you could find the frequency range at which most of the lady vocal energy is resident, and then notch that range out of the heavy distorted rhythm guitar, would it help her to stay out front in the louder/heavier sections without having to pull the guitar down unacceptably?
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

Thanks, and yes it would. I'll be honest, I didn't spend a huge amount of time mixing it "properly". Aside from some basic generic EQ bits, most of the mixing was done with panning and volume automation.

Absolutely - I've had to do some pitch adjustment here and there (there were a few instances where I hit the string a bit hard and they went sharp), but I can render the stems with just the pitch effects active. Also, you'll be mightily offended, because my guitar has 3 mics on it ;)

  • Liked that a lot Lee, and I don't as a rule like stuff with vocals.

3 mic's? I've been known to use the "holy trinity" up close and still add a couple of condensers in the corners for the hell of it.

    :)

We used an SE2000 on the cap edge of the V30, an SM57 on the cap edge of the G12T-75 and a Rode NT1A for the room mic. Each mic sounded crap, but together they sound awesome :)
