Ok so I have written 3 songs now and have no idea what to do with them next in so much as putting a harmony, riff, chords etc to them.
I don't know whether to co-write with someone who has experience or whether to battle on by myself. I just don't know what to do first and where to start.
I would appreciate some help.

Would you start with the chorus or verse.
please tell me it gets easier once I have done a few!!
I was wondering too if you hear a riff you like from someone else's song how much can you keep it the same without court proceedings lol!!
"I put my story in your limp Brit hands, and you are not going to fail me."
I'd dispassionately kill them, dismember them keep the best bits, in a bank for another time. The lyrics of course. Some thoughts keep occurring to us, some thoughts we have once and then they're lost - those thoughts are sometimes revelationary and good to keep around ... but songs are collections of thoughts gathered by a mood or theme
I find I usually keep the quotes with a rhythmic pattern that'd dictate some structure to a song, other than that I have a notebook of ideas/sentences that are not lyrics but the thoughts behind them.
If you are stuck for a chord progression, here's a suggestion: pick a song you know, the more chords the better, write them all down on a piece of paper in front of you, then start playing around with them in a different order. You should quickly end up playing something you like the sound of.
I decided to go for the chorus and got a melody for it (singing not guitar) but then didn't have anything to record my voice so ended up ringing my Dad's house (I knew he was out) and sang it to his answering machine!!!!!
Once I was safe in the knowledge it was recorded I went to make a celebratory cuppa, so now I assume I play guitar over me singing and build up from there??
I am going to start the other way round from now on although the band love my lyrics so don't want to set fire to them just yet.
Is there an app that I can download on my phone to record voice notes?? My Dad probably won't mind me singing to him although his answering machine is 40 mins away from me!!! (I know!!! I didn't think it through very well!!!!) but if I had of thought it through in the first place I would have come up with a riff before the lyrics - lol
)Was reading up on Pulp the other day, and they'd work up lots of music, gradually weed it down and then Jarvis would typically only write the lyrics for the ones they'd settled on the day before recording http://www.pulpwiki.net/Pulp/CandidaDoylePressCuttings (and this is someone who's had their lyrics published by Faber & Faber).
Don't think there is one but I am due for an upgrade in March so will keep it in mind!
