is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

I'll principally remember him in The Singing Detective, which was a work of genius for both the writing and the acting.

    RIP indeed.

  • You beat me to it @57Deluxe ; :+1:

Perhaps there will ultimately be a verb named after him ...

Gambon (v. tr) to lose control unexpectedly and then regain composure in a competitive environment.

Sad news, he was an incredible actor with a wide range and a beautiful voice. I interviewed him on camera some years ago about his early days in acting in the Unity Theatre.

The way he succeeded Richard Harris as Dumbledore in the Potter movies was almost seamless. I can't think of anyone who could have done it as well (have to say, great casting too). Stole the scenes he was in in Layer Cake and The Cook, the Thief, the Wife and her Lover. Not easy vs Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig etc.

I remember first seeing him in a 1970s sitcom called The Other One with Richard Briers.

It was a sort of odd couple thing about two men who become friends on a Spanish holiday - Briers the bullshitting extrovert (with feet of clay, of course) and Gambon the quiet introvert.  I used to watch it with my dad.  It seemed good at the time, but there were only two series and I don't remember it ever being repeated.

RIP, Brian from The Other One.

Sad day to see Michael Gammon departed.
    My thoughts are with his friends (T. Crown, R.O Beef, L.O Pork, L.O lamb, S.Vegetables, G. Boat, R.Potatoes, C. Cheese, Y. Pudding).
    A crackling actor.
    May he Roast in Peace.
    Dont worry, be silly.

Sad news, what a wonderfully commanding actor with a fabulous voice. Whilst I am no big Harry Potter fan, he was amazing in that role.
