Any QS/Commercial Management people on here? Advice sought

I’m a trainee QS, yr3 on my degree apprenticeship but been in my job for 9+ years albeit in a minimal role until maybe 4 years ago. 

My company is a specialist subcontractor with projects all over the country, under performing (and over stretched) PMs and my dept (commercial) are being shipped in to problem projects to offer some form of framework of support. Whilst also being full time commercial/QS on a couple of others. 

All well and good, bread and butter for most people in my position. I’m embracing it and loving the challenge tbh but finding it difficult to bounce from one project to another whilst also maintaining my day to day role (largely commercial admin based). 

Can anyone offer some tips regards commercial/risk management and any decent systems or tips please.

    Work out what the problem projects are (ie where you are losing money, or not going to make your margin)
    Work out which are the high risk projects (the ones which will seriously impact the company if they go pear shaped)
    combine the two and do your best to make sure those ones dont

    report issues / concerns on paper regularly to your bosses - not just your line manager


    good luck - sounds just like contracting for the 35 years I’ve known it
