are there any good reasonably priced through neck guitars that you might recommend?

i have a harley benton fusion 3 pro hss that i do love but one thing i do wish was that it was through neck as the neck/body join is quite thick/large if that makes any sense? it just makes it harder to reach the high notes with my ompah loompah hands.

am wondering what companies do through necks that aren't hugely expensive (say around £300 plus about if possible).

You might struggle to find a through neck at that sort of price, but some set necks can be pretty slender at the join. Like this SG

There’s one or two thru-neck Schecter models that can be had used for around $500 (whatever that is in £ these days). That’s the cheapest thru-neck I’ve seen.

Harder to find and a little bit more expensive is a Fender Showmaster Stratocaster.

What difference does a through neck make compared to glued in or bolted?

There a loads of basses with through neck, but very few guitars with the same design.

My silver sky doesn't seem any harder to play up high than my Mira ( bolted Vs glued necks)

No neck to body joint. Which often makes higher fret access easier.

I am not advocating playing at the dusty end, mind.

In answer to the original question, a used Ibanez RGAT might fit in budget.

I was going to suggest this too, or possibly a Jackson X series Soloist. I have an SL3X which is HSS, there's also the SLX which is HH; if you can find one second hand then it should be around your price range I expect.

I've been eying that up...

I’d stay away from the 4 trouble with microphonic pickups someone on here had a problem with one and Andertons sad it was ok , he could literally speak into the pickups . Any of the other X series soloists are ace I’ve had 2 or 3 crackle ones and two sl3x in neon pink , one I just found after 4 or 5 years looking after parting with the other

Through neck (or thru-neck) always makes me think BC Rich, but I don't know if you'd find anything in that price range.

Westone Thunder III early 80’s MIJ and fantastic build quality, criminally under the radar hence quite cheap to buy.

+1 for Westone Thunder III ( I think only v3 is through neck ). It does have a couple of issues though, the grey / pearl v3 have an all maple body so they weigh about 11lb and the Jinai bend master? Bridge has brass saddles which seem to be scarce but you can get black ones from BC Richs ( mine the height screws stuck so I bought a spare set just in case I wrecked them getting the screws out )
Those 2 things aside mine is great, the neck is lovely.

The Thunder III also came standard with a TOM bridge arrangement. But yeah some can be LP like weight.
