BOSS - NS-1X | Noise Suppressor

If this is as good as their other X series stuff then this could be a winner.
The BC-1X is the very best pedal compressor I've ever used.

Ooh wonder if it's a digitally controlled analog gate or full DSP. There's lot of scope for using DSP and logic for the detection

Paul at Studio Rats gives a great demo of it. He's an amazing player too.

I'm assuming it detects at the front and gates at the back which is very useful and a reason why I usually prefer MFX gates.

Tip for one of the best noise suppressors/gates you can buy.

The one in the Zoom MS70 CDR. I've owned several individual gates. But none have been as good as the noise suppressor in the CDR, not only is it a great gate, it also gets rid of hums and buzzes.

    Looks like full DSP: https://www.boss.info/global/products/ns-1x/specifications/

You could take a pretty crude sample and cut the latency if you were using digitally controlled analog. With DSP I guess you can use lookahead and get really fancy

I have a DIY Zuul clone, a Stone Deaf noise gate and a Boss NS-2. To be honest they all do the same job once you get a side-chain set up. I don't notice any of them. The one knobbers are easier to use

  • Would be interested to see how it stacks up against the TC Sentry (and the one in my GX100)

OOh, I'll have to try that

  • Anyone got one yet?

(I realise this perhaps isn’t the kind of thing people queue round the block overnight to buy…)
