Contacts from fairly random recruitment agencies

I'm currently going through a rather drawn out redundancy process, and the recruitment vultures are obviously going through LinkedIn  contacting pretty much everybody who's listed that they work for my current employer (a significant number of staff across the UK are affected, so it's most likely a worthwhile fishing exercise for them).
Most have been via messages on LinkedIn which I have largely been ignoring, as I'm not in a desperate rush to start looking for a new job, but all have been related to what I currently do.

However, earlier I got a random WhatsApp message from a recruitment agent that is pretty much the polar opposite, who specialises in digital marketing/management recruitment. I've not responded as I've been busy, but I'm intrigued as to why they think I'd be suitable for any digital marketing roles, and how they got my phone number?

I do have digital marketing experience, but it's not something that I have listed on any job site. I have run my own side business for over 10 years, and have a good understanding of digital marketing, but most of my marketing over the past few years has been word of mouth, as I've not really had the need to market what I sell (sales are mostly at a comfortably manageable level, although I'll likely start pushing for more soon).

I might reply just to see what they're offering, but it has me intrigued especially since they don't even have any local jobs listed on their website.

If you reply to a random WhatsApp message and supply your name, date of birth, address then they can sell you as a contact for a couple of quid.

It would be very unprofessional for a recruiter to use WhatsApp, besides if they saw your profile on LinkedIn they would use LinkedIn to contact you.

I deleted my LinkedIn account years ago. It's just a platform run for employment agencies to keep approaching you about "excellent opportunities" that they have (to earn themselves a lovely commission)

I always reply to these with a message that says : Happy to chat. No action on my part constitutes any agreement for you to act as a sole provider of my services, nor of any agreement for you to act on my behalf without a formal legal agreement between us to that effect, nor for you to be entitled to any fee from me or from any potential employer of myself.

most bugger off at that point,  the useful ones tend to stick around .

who knows what I might have missed from that approach in the past.  But as a recruiter I have had numerous situations where I have multiple recruitment agents purporting to be “acting” for someone I want to employ
