Passive PA - Active Subwoofer

Afternoon All

In the process of upgrading our Band's PA bit by bit as the gig money comes in.

Currently using a Behringer PMP2000 powered head mixer with 2x passive speakers (and active monitors).

I've just picked up an active sub which was a good deal and thought i can probably use this with the existing system....

if i take the line out of the front of the PA directly to the Sub and just hook up the other speakers as normal - will this work and sound ok?

  • Yes it should work ok. The sub will be getting everything the tops are producing, which may sound a bit odd but usable. Hopefully the subs input will have a crossover in it which should remove the. Unwanted highs. If not buy a cheap active crossover from eBay and turn t crossover point to taste! I looked up the PMP and couldn’t see a line out unless you mean the tape out,
