Canary Islands - Jan/Feb advice please

What's Hot
As per the title I'm looking to book a break at end of Jan for a bit of winter sun and peace, will need a few bars/restaurants but not too "brits abroad" type strip of pubs as will basically be sleeping, reading and relaxing, ideally looking at (and walking on) a sandy beach with clear sea.

I'll be on my own which is fine as I like going away alone, plus I'm easier to please and am looking at the Canary Islands as they're easy to get to with regular flights.

Having never been to any of the islands I'm after some recommendations, am currently looking at the southern end of Fuerteventura but have just realised it's a long way away from the airport and don't really want to spend a fortune in a cab (I'll probably book flights and accommodation separately)

Any recommendations much appreciated.....

  • Matagorda area of Lanzarote, just enough choices to get a good meal without the hustle and bustle...

Although they do say Fuerteventura is great for lone relaxing breaks..

cabs are not bad prices in the Canaries, we went to Arrecife when in Lanzarote this year, 10km took 15-20 mins and the meter showed 13 euros something.

Cheers all, think I'm almost settled on Morro Jable (Fuerteventura) as it seems to tick my boxes, @ESBlonde is that where your friend is by any chance?

  • watch out for microclimates
we went to Tenerife in the spring, stayed in an amazing place in the north. However, mostly clouds and rain, the south west was sunny and much hotter

    Lanzarote was lovely in December

Like the ocean? Go to Puerta de la Cruz in the north, awesome sea and food. If interested I can suggest some places. It will have lots of filthy weather but you can travel to the other side of Teide for sun.

In one day with a hire car, went from 14 Deg with rain to 25 Deg with sun to Teide where we had to turn around for snow, then back to rain.

    Enjoy!
