I have a Furman power conditioner with pull-out lights...it has one IEC 240v output on the front panel and the rest of the gubbins on the rear.
In studio use, there are loads of times I want to plug in a synth, pedalboard or an effects unit and pulling the rack out and reaching behind is a PITA.
In a live situation, I use the front input for my pedalboard, again so I don't have to reach around the back disturbing the wiring there.

Even if it was designed to go in the back of a rack, I'd still have all fixed wiring on the inside.
(that would also make the dimmer switch accessible!)
