Hi all,

Can anyone identify this speaker, please? I think it was a big standard little Marshall amp one that I upgraded to a Celestion.

And if you'd like for a spare, let me know. I've just found it lovingly tucked away in web the loft. I've not measured it but it looks about 6" ??

Thanks,
Clare

Korean company getting parts made in China.
    8" x 15W RMS @ 8 or 4 Ohms

No? MAYBE NOT the above.  Your speaker seems to have a larger magnet, but I suppose they could have used a generic image.  That was the only credible hit on the part number stamped on your speaker.  I am also seeing that part number in 8 ohm speakers fitted to the now discontinued Marshall MG15xxx eg. DFX amplifiers, but possibly not used in the successor MG15FX that says "custom voiced 15 watt speaker" in the specifications.

  • Wow, great sleuthing, thanks @BillDL . It was from the MG15DFX, I suspect. I couldn't remember the name of the amp, but that sounds right. Thank you

If you search Google images for Marshall MG15DFX you will see a few photos where people have taken a picture with the back off, like this page:
The model number of the one shown on the Changzhou Chunil Corp. is suffixed by a "D", i.e 200RFL-06 3D  rather than your speaker that doesn't have the D at the end.  The speaker in the photo on the person's blog is the same as your speaker.  I don't know the significance of the D, but I would hazard a guess that 200 is the approx diameter of the 8"/203mm cone, that "RF" probably refers to "Round voice coil, Ferrite magnet", that "L" may refer to "lead" given that they have it indexed as "lead guitar speaker", but I can't see any correlation of the other characters in the code to the specs.

  • @BillDL that's awesome. I'm not totally sure the amp isn't in the loft too somewhere! I'm currently earning it out. Thanks for all the info - I think you've solved the mystery. At least I can try to sell it now!
