Gibson ES-335 60s re-issue Flame Figured £3250 £3k £2800
First up for sale is my cherry red Gibson ES-335 Figured semi-acoustic guitar; hand made in Memphis in 2016 and purchased new from Peach Guitars in June 2017. The 2016 Gibson sales catalogue described the ES-335 Figured guitar as below:-
‘From 1958 and throughout its glory years, very few ES-335s were built with figured maple tops, and those that were remain highly prized. Our 2016 hand-made re-issue of the 1960s ES-335 Figured from Gibson Memphis captures this exotic-wood elegance in a great sounding and playing semi-acoustic’
‘Body woods: Beautifully figured maple top, back and sides
Fingerboard: Rosewood with small block inlays
Neck: Redesigned for improved strength and playability, rounded “C” profile
Truss rod: Historic truss rod
Pickups: Burstbucker 1 & 2
Bridge: ABR-1 with titanium saddles
Tailpiece: Locking stopbar
Finish: High-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer’
This guitar has only been played at home and has never been gigged; it is always kept in its case when not in use. There are no dings or scratches on the body and no visible wear on the frets. I only play finger style and there are some very light fingernail swirls on the pickguard that could easily be polished out. I would rate this as ‘almost mint’ 9.5/10. Currently set up for 10 gauge strings with a nice low action, it comes with the usual Gibson certificate and a tan Gibson fitted hard case.
I don’t want to post this guitar as it is too unique to risk damage in transit so it is for sale by ‘collection only’ from West Oxfordshire, mid-way between Oxford & Swindon.

Vintage 1989 VOS Guild X-160 Savoy £1600 £1500 back up for sale
Back up for sale due to time waster. All original vintage amber sunburst Guild X-160 Savoy hollow body guitar manufactured in 1989 at the Guild factory at Westerly, Rhode Island, USA. A total of only 350 of these guitars were made for worldwide distribution. I purchased this from Ivor Mairants in 2019 just before they closed their shop in Rathbone Place in London.
The X-160 is a less ornate version of the X-170 and structurally the X-160 and X-170 were the same and sounded identical. The identity of this particular model can be very confusing because the Savoy name was used for the X-150 of the 1950s and 1960s as well as the re-imagined X-150 and X-150D of the late 1990s and early 2000s. To further add to the confusion, Guild also re-used the X-160 name in the late 1990s and early 2000s for a model completely different than the X-160 shown here! Guild confirmed that this guitar is a 1989 X-160 Savoy from the serial number.
This guitar is in truly amazing condition for its age of 34 years and there are no dings or scratches on the front or sides of the body. There is, however, one very small shallow rough spot on the back that was probably caused by a guitar stand. If we disregard the rough spot (about the size of a 20p piece) the condition of this guitar could easily be described as ‘New Old Stock’. The guitar is fitted with two Guild HB-1 humbuckers with adjustable pole pieces; these are widely considered to be the best pickups ever produced by Guild for punch and clarity. The guitar was professionally set up for 10 gauge strings with a low action before it was delivered to me. The guitar comes in a Thomann hard case.
