Rewiring Satriani pickups to RG565 circuit

My battered Ibanez RG200 is sounding rather nice with DiMarzio FRED and Satch Track pickups. I am mulling over whether to add a middle pickup or just have a fancy selector switch to squeeze five sounds out of two pickups.

Has anyone here ever rewired an Ibanez Satriani model with a Track format neck position pickup from a three-way selector switch to a 2502N five-way à la RG565? If so, were the two additional sounds any good?

I already have a Charvel wired the 2502N way but its pickups are of higher output. My playing is nothing like Satriani's. I make the RG200 sound more like David Torn.
