First track is up. I'm nowhere near as big a fan of PF as I once was, but either way I'm, er, whelmed. I sort of get the intent but I just don't care and the music is boring.

Not quite. It was interesting, but not enough for me to want to listen to it all.
I'll get a round to buying a 'real' guitar one day.

    Isn't this Bill Shatner's latest?

Interesting as an exercise, but the original is far too well ingrained for anything more than an indulgent curiosity.

Wow. Utterly dire. Ponderous and indulgent. No solos? He's having a laff!

Would be good background music were it not for his Tom Waits impression

If this is grumpy old Roger trying to prove he doesn't need Dave, he really failed.

Self-important twattery that adds nothing of value to the original.

And I say that as a fairly big fan of Waters’ past writing.

It's actually quite remarkable that the 2 of them can work together so strongly for the best part of 20 years, then sporadically reconcile & reunite over the next 30 but still have utterly zero clue that the two of them are considerably better than the sum of their individual talents.

To me it’s similar to Jimmy Page, in that they’re both, quite rightly, very proud of their past achievements but the gravity of that history keeps drawing them back to revisit and tinker instead of heading full steam towards the next creation.

Nope. From the first word I heard “sung” it’s a definite no.

I actually think Amused To Death is a very good album, almost up there with much of Waters' Floyd stuff, and there are a few good moments in the post-Waters Floyd too (especially Pulse, which is better than the studio albums) but... overall you're definitely right.

I don't think there's any chance of further collaboration though - Waters has become a complete arse, and it would probably mean divorce for Gilmour.

But interestingly Robert Plant doesn't seem to be like that at all.

Yeah, though Jimmy doesn't seem to also be a noisy twat to go with it.

@stickyfiddle- I'm intrigued now, mate: What does whelmed mean?!

Hmmm- interesting. I don't mind it actually as a piece of music outside the rock idiom.

I think DSOTM could be reframed, rather than 'redux-ed'. It'd be better if RW was executive producer, but gave the songs to different artists- across various media- to interpret for 2023.

Failing that, he could create an entirely new piece of work but picking up on the salient themes of DSOTM.

I love Amused to Death too, it's a fantastic album. But again it's Roger's words alongside the work of a genius guitarist - in this case Jeff Beck.

Maybe Roger will release a new version of ATD where he just mumbles the words without Beck's sublime guitar work.

I just Googled Waters and the very first thing I saw was this.  He's not a fan of rock guitar players...

On the one hand you have to acknowledge the man's self-confidence and self-belief. On the other hand you have to acknowledge that both are dwarfed by self-delusion.

Great legacy though, he'll probably go down as the biggest twat in music history.

No, he was just doing his best impression of Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle.
