Up for grabs is this mega rare (in the UK) Top Hat Club Royale 2x12 Combo.

20w, Class A, EL84, 1 x Vintage 30, 1 x Jensen. Version 1, Solid State Rectifier, Meticulously handwired, check out the pics!

110v with step up transformer fixed into the bottom of the cabinet.

Stunning sounding amp. Very versatile. Pretty much mint condition. Comes with cover.

Think of the best sounding AC15 with more punch and more tone shaping options.

It's a stunning amp and in a direct comparison to my Bad Cat Black Cat it's very similar, which stands to reason both being EL84 amps, but the Top Hat has more of a vintage vibe going on, is more versatile with the normal/bright/fat/switch on the input stage and has a better master volume to be honest BUT I just LOVE that Bad Cat 3D swirl that they have, my back won't thank me but there we go!

I'd LOVE to keep both (and if I get no takers, I will) but I've been sorely tempted by the Top Hat Emplexador that's in the classifieds and I feel I need a vintage Marshall type amp to complete my sonic palette!

Trades, I'm looking for a boutique vintage Marshall type with master volume so think Germino or Metropoulos.

Sod it, I'm keeping it!

  • I have the exact same amp, imported last year from US,very versatile, build quality up there with anything out there.
Nice combination of speakers, worth every penny.Looks like an early 2000 model, with switchable boost rather than pull boost.

Cheers @tugwellguitar! Yes, a totally fantastic amp, so good in fact, I bought it twice!

Only reason it's on the block is I need to scratch a Marshall itch. If I can scrape the money together, I'll be keeping it for sure.

Yes, there's 2 Top Hats for sale currently on the forum, just a real shame they are not more well known in the UK, I think it puts a few people off but it shouldn't as they are fantastic :-)

@Dominic I would have thought so, yes. Without measuring it, it's deeper than my Lazy J20 and that has a Tayden Alnico that fits fine. I'm on tour till Sunday but happy to measure it when I'm back if you're seriously interested?

Any interest in a Jooky Tele with gold foils?  really nice chunky neck!  Pickups are awesome.

That and a Classic Vibe butterscotch tele in direct exchange.

@Cacofonix Whatcha Got and I'm in Worcester but can meet up anywhere for the right deal! ;-)

EDIT: Regarding trades, I'm very much a traditionalist and can add funds for the right deal..

Will also consider downright cheeky cash offers...

  • As to cheeky cash offers, there is cheeky and there is downright insulting.  The GAS fund would be downright insulting.

I'm on a strictly one in one out deal, and I have to trade for smaller rather than bigger, so My Nomad 45 would be on the block, as it's 4x10 rather than 2x12.

What weight is this Top Hatted repository of awesome tone?

Lighter and more portable than 4x10s, in my experience, although the Peavey was an exception to that rule.

It's the vox thing that does it for me, though.

    Why?

Edit: seen the matchless post.  Out of my bracket by a long way, and there's no fx loop.  It'd still be great to try one, though.  Might settle some questions.
