A video update of my 5 finger picking technique.

I have been using this 5 finger finger picking technique for about three years. Personally. I think that a lot of progress has been made.

I see only 4 fingers on your right hand. Where's the 5th finger hiding??  ;)

I know, but I learned the technique from the "Right-Hand Studies for Five Fingers" book.

Obviously, left hand picking players aren't even considered. :astonished:

Interesting. Is each finger and the thumb assigned to a specific string, with maybe the thumb covering two strings, or is the system more flexible than that?

    Nicely played by the way.

Yes, the system is very flexible, but you need to work your way through the book to find out the subtle details.

Thanks, it's took a lifetime of practice. :)

I can't really see from the video how this differs from standard fingerstyle guitar, is it possible to summarise the main points?

I'm just using the little finger as well to pick the string.

There’s no way one could allocate one finger to a single string ?!  Anything played quickly in classical or fingerstyle has to use two fingers at least?

Yes, that's very true for set piece Classical and Finger style. :)
