Taken off a Jazz Bass just purchased from my wife's nemesis, @DougCoda.

I immediately replaced them with flats so they've had no use - it seems wasteful to chuck them.

Not strictly true. Your strings have been kinked by passing over bridge saddles and nut, then, around the machinehead posts. They will only fit properly on another Jazz Bass with the same bridge design and stringing method.

e.g. If your strings came off a modern American Fender, strung through body, the saddle kinks will be too far along the strings to suit a basic top loading bass bridge.

    Bridgehouse collects bass strings.
    Be seeing you.

Thank you @Funkfingers - that's a very good point and you're right, of course.

Just to clarify, then, these came off a '66 reissue bass.

On the plus side, they are free!

(I don't quite get the trend of selling used bass strings...)

Flat-wound strings, in particular, last for many years and are very expensive - upwards of £50 a set.
