Broderick Smith

TanninTannin Frets: 4394
Hertfordshire-born Broderick Smith became a major figure in Australian music.

He arrived in Melbourne at the age of 11 and grew up in St Albans, not the worst outer Melbourne suburb in those days but certainly not a good one.

A singer and harmonica player he started performing in the early 1960s ands fronted various bands from that time on. He is best remembered for his time with the Dingoes who had sustained success from 1973 through to the end of the decade. Prior to that he, along with a who's who of other notable musicians, appeared in the local productions of Tommy.

He remained an important and respected figure. He died this week aged 75.
