Sad, although Strictly ain't my bag.  He was a likeable personality.

Shame, he was from my original neck of the woods and I had family of his era who always spoke well of him - I have a feeling he had a few dance schools in South London in the old days

I think Strictly does what it does well and Len brought a sense of expertise to it which helped make it what it was. He seems to have had a long career doing what he was passionate about and good at and that's generally to be applauded as a life well lived. He was still appearing on the TV in the USA until a few months ago so looks like it hasn't been a very long period of illness.
    RIP

He was essential to Strictly's success. He brought a warmth and old school charm that was missing from the other judges - it provided great balance and contrast.

I didn't find him likeable at all.

I do remember that time he sexually assaulted Darcey Bussell on live TV

I don't watch the show, although I did catch bits here and there over the years. He was the ideal man to head up the judges, having a sense of authority, being very down to earth, and coming out with some lovely phrases that hinted at his background.

His obituary on the Beeb in interesting, worth a look. He only came into the show at the last minute when someone else dropped out, and thus became famous late in life. I'm sure that his character and personality really helped the show to get so successful.

I think its safe to say she didn't feel the same way Steve.

She's just tweeted - 'Very sad to hear about the death of dear wonderful gentleman, Len Goodman. My heart goes out to his family & dear Sue. He gave me such support on my time at Strictly. I feel so lucky to have worked with such a professional, funny loveable man. Thank you for the special memories x'

I must admit I was surprised by the news, I guess I just assumed that as a former ballroom dancer he'd be in pretty good shape and would be around for a few years yet.

I watched Strictly occasionally in the early years, I think he was a likeable old geezer.  RIP.

    That's not entirely true.

Luck of the draw though, so you can do everything right and still get it.
