Computer Music writer Martin Delaney has kindly written a new two-part tutorial for my guitar blog site. He is a good friend of mine and also one of the world's top certified Ableton Trainers, and also a great bass player.

Being more of a Logic person and a guitarist, it is great to have his perspective on how to do this stuff.

I figured it might be interesting to some of you and so will share the links here for you all.

Thank you (and Martin) for sharing.

The Logic versus Albeton Live argument is moot. All the toys are present in both DAWs but they are kept in different cupboards.

Logic Pro has several ready-made amp modelling and effects presets for electric bass guitar.

There is nothing dedicated for electric upright other than rudimentary compression and EQ. Even then, these resemble something dating back to Garageband 7.

Earlier this year, I had been mostly toying with the idea of purchasing a Tech21 Geddy Lee pre-amp. Before pulling the trigger, I decided to try to program something similar using the standard Logic Pro effect plug-ins. I reckon that I got something pretty close via the Clip Distortion module.

I shall have to take a screen grab of my settings and post it for peer review.
    Be seeing you.

Apple already has Mainstage for live work. Logic is essentially the engine for that software anyway.

I like the idea of building live rigs within software though, as essentially a lot of players do this already with amp modellers.
