From the front-on picture I thought they were very shiny.

    They go right through!

The active version was quite a bit more money - and has much posher hardware and pickup etc.

I'm glad I don't play bass because they look very cool to me (but I know nothing about bass to know whether they'd be half way decent or not).

I have no idea either! For £199 if it needs a bit of a set up and some fettling then I'm ok with that. If it needs more then it will go back.

I think mine is getting delivered this afternoon.

I've since noticed that the shape and design of the body seems very reminiscent of the Fretboard logo...

    I know nothing about bass.

So, bass players are open to new ideas much more than guitarists...

... just not *that* much more.

Or maybe it depends more on the quality of the idea.

Which sadly doesn't extend to the choice of bridge - although that can probably be changed fairly easily.

I think it’s a great bit of design. What puts me off is that the finish on the body and the wings doesn’t match.

It's gone back for an exchange.

The action was so high that it even with the saddles bottomed out it would have needed a 5 mm thick shim!

But - it was nice and light, balanced very well and the basic tone was very good. So I've opted for an exchange rather than a refund. I gather from the basschat guys that the quality is a bit hit and miss, but hopefully the replacement will be a good one. If that one is bad I won't try a third one.

    I got the replacement today.

I ordered the single humbucker one.

They delivered the wrong one - the J bass version. So now I have to deal with another return. Getting a refund this time. Can't be bothered with it any more.

These have dropped to £179, and they’re going pretty quickly now. I’ve and bought the 2x single coil black one

Well it arrived today. I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s my first bass, so I can’t compare it to anything else, but it’s light (6lbs), the neck is comfortable coming from electric/acoustic guitar and it is really well built -  no sharp frets, good paint finish. The decent gig bag is a surprise too.

I’ve lowered the action, and it seems nice to play. It’s comfortable on my knee too. No neck dive or anything.

At £499 I’m not sure I’d have bought it, but at £182 (with postage), it feels like a steal.

Oh and the fretboard is purpleheart. Feels a bit like ebony.

I still quite like the design of these and it looks nicer in your shots than it does on the websites too.

Lovely little bonus peek of Fidelity there too :)

I love the old Vox "Shadow" (?) styling from the 80s with a bit of a reverse offset thing going on from memory. This one intrigues me but I'm not really down with the short scale...
