Not seen anyone talking about the show yet, is there much interest? Also is it best to pre-buy tickets or plenty on the door?

Do you mean my show this weekend? it isn't at The NEC, it's at Cranmore Park - about 8 miles from The NEC

  • Camping and Caravan show this week at the NEC. Presumably at some point the difference would become apparent. Although if Fender want to start doing campervan awnings I’d be all over it.
Online ticket sales end Thursday afternoon (for the guitar show). I think I’m right in saying that they are cheaper in advance but a service charge is applied per purchase. So, if only buying one ticket the cost is the same but if purchasing two or more it works out cheaper in advance.
I’ll handle this Violet, you take your three hour break.

    Yes, that!

I was running Music Live at The NEC and a visitor came in complaining very loudly that I had ripped him off and the website stated £10 per ticket but he had been charged £12.50 (or something)

You have to bare (bear?) in mind that Music Live was very loud and he had walked through it, past Rosetti, past Roland, past Marshall, past Vintage Guitars etc to get to my office

He was in the wrong show, he wanted the Classic Car Show - he never realised

I could do with the numbers the Caravan Show gets, although saying that, I am at record numbers of advance tickets sold so far - this is very encouraging news.

I went to Music Live in 2005 I think, met Michael Angelo Batio. I asked for his autograph and I think he thought it was louder in there than it was because he literally screamed WHAT IS YOUR NAME?! at point blank range in to my face.

IIRC the October caravan show gets about 100,000 visitors and the February one a bit fewer. I know these shows are still small compared to the German and American ones. I’d quite like to go to something like the Frankfurt show. Presumably they have guitar shows over there as well of a similar humongous size.
Anyway, LOL for the Classic Car guy.

They used to have Music Messe at Frankfurt Exhibition Centre - it was probably bigger than NAMM, they managed to cock it up tho and it's kind of died.

    The halls dwarf the NEC

Also going to California is cheaper and sunnier...

Ah, sorry about that. When you’re from Somerset anything north of Bristol is a mystery!

  • Have a great show everyone!

It's going to be the first one in a long time that I'm not going to be at, but I'll be thinking of you all!

There's always something quite magical about that room. It's not like any other specialist interest trade show or exhibition where there are always undertones of competition. At that guitar show, everyone genuinely is wishing everyone else all the best with what they have to share. It's a true 'community'.

Have a good one in the new venue!
