Fuck fuck fuck.
RIP
I shall be having it on tomorrow morning.
The player who helped me realise "edge of breakup" was the sound I liked the most - in a band that helped me decide that "lead" and/or "rhythm" guitar wasn't for me. So pleased I got to see him - when Television reformed, they made a fine third album and came to the UK.
My head said brake, but my heart cried never.
Also, his solo work is hugely underrated, with the Flash Light album being a huge favorite of mine. Some absolutely great tracks on that one..."Cry Mercy, Judge", "A Town Called Walker", "Scientist Writes A Letter", "The Funniest Thing"...I love it.
RIP Tom
I've been aware of Television for decades, I knew how revered and influential they were, I could name most of the band members, I could recognise that album cover a mile off... but somehow I'd never actually heard it.
RIP, Mr Verlaine.

RIP.
I hadn't heard the news until just now, when I saw this piece posted on the Guardian site. Very, very sad, but this writing is a fitting memorial alongside the records.
Some superb tributes on Twitter too.
Brilliant, brilliant player, performer, musician, writer.
