Gotta love Larry and I'm particularly fond of this performance of 'All The Things You Are' whilst he was sitting in with Les Paul and the house band.

I finally got round to transcribing it... I'll need to tweak a few things here and there, but it's a great example of spontaneity, tone, feel, time, lines and a ridiculous chord solo! So much to get from here and who needs a drummer with a bass player that good eh? smile

What a brilliant and casual piece of improv, thanks for posting that.
Great work on the transcription - that would have taken me decades!

  • I watched this cos Lukather references him a lot.....  I lasted 3 minutes.. not for me I'm afraid..  too meandering..

Well done for transcribing that lot mind you...
    My trading feedback

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

    Fantastic work on this, Brad!

Larry is probably my favourite guitarist and his straight-ahead jazz playing really is only the tip of the iceberg. Man is deep!

I like Larry's playing but more so the fusion stuff rather than this straight ahead jazz mode. That's some transcription! Superbly done to have it highlight along with the paying!

Thank you! We all hear things differently, so lasting 3 minutes is a good effort for something you’re not feeling  Might be worth checking out his studio work for things a bit more concise.

Cheers! So true, I’ve seen very few who seem so at ease even when they’re on the edge. It just seems to make sense to him.

Yeah it’s a great feature isn’t it? I think that’s the great thing about Larry, there is at least one aspect to his playing that people can dig.

    Happy days

I use a free account. I think one aspect to subscribing is you can upload your own videos directly, rather than via YouTube. I’ll have to look again and see what the other benefits are though.
