Back in the mid nineties I guy came into the printing business I worked for at the time he had this guitar plan from Antonio De Torres - I took a copy at the time & it’s been in my loft ever since.

I’ve had a search for Antonio online and obviously see how influential he was - just be interesting if anyone had more of a take on this plan & if it would be worth having a guitar made to these etc etc etc.

Sydney Evans was a violin repair shop owner in Birmingham . He also sold parts and tools to luthiers.  It was good for traditional things like , rabbit skin glue and shellac  .  As you say , Torres was the Fender of acoustic guitars and his   guitars became the starting point  of the modern instrument .  The  plan you have would be fine  if you made the guitar yourself . It is interesting that the main plan has a incorrect neck joint and gives the correct version in a  separate drawing. If you wanted to make an actual copy , you can find better plans, including plans  and photos  of  two  Torres guitars, in the book Making Master Guitars by Roy Courtnall .

FYI the definitive book about Antonio de Torres was written by Jose Romanillos. Very much worth a read and has not only biographical details but also details his individual survivng instruments.

Torres's place in the history of the classical is unique. He didn't actually invent much but he put together several pre-existing features to create the modern classical format which remains pretty much as he conjured it up. Specifically the larger body c.f. earlier classicals. A genius. And never a particularly wealthy one!
