    SJ200 Custom Vine. Looking very sorry for itself. Absolutely lovely and would clean up really well but you must have noticed midline crack. Repairable at more cost. Serial number on label authenticated by being stamped on back of headstock too in correct Gibson fashion. Wouldn't worry about glazing of finish. Just leave. Label says made in Bozeman, Montana.

    Serial Number suggests either made 1976 at Kalamazoo or on the 18th January 2000 in Bozeman, Montana. Since Bozeman facility did not open until 1989, almost certainly the latter.

    Excellent insight, I wonder whether it was sold prior to auction. Sellers will sometimes take a blockbusting offer in exchange for withdrawal from the auction.
    The estimate was ridiculous. If it was intended to generate attention, it certainly worked with me.

    Difficult to know. May have just been valued low out of a lack of insight. OTOH, who really wants a guitar in fairly bad condition which is only 22y old. Might have been kept in bad conditions and so generally not good. Would have needed a fair bit of attention to bring it back to full life. Better off with a better second hand one? Custom SJ/J200's certainly look nice though! Jumbos not everyone's favourite size these days.
