I'm putting a mini fuzz face together at the moment, BC108, if that takes your fancy. It will be in the enclosure on the left here

  • I have  a mad beetronics Vezzpa that's mint and not really used that much on one of the boards, I don't know whether that's too much for what you're after - I'll have a box too - it's purple if you're picky about colour matching :-)   Mike   Nb It will have Velcro on the back too

  • Thanks for replies. Had a busy week. I'll look into reviews of the above.

That pedal looks awesome but I’m really after a medium gain, good clean up fuzz face. Ideally after checking out enough videos, I’m after a Pedal Pawn or BMF GeSpot fuzz or one of the Dunlop mini fuzz faces.

  • I've got a germanium BJFE Sparkle Face I may consider moving on. I seem to be in team octave fuzz at the moment, with my Candy Apple and Octaland suiting the current project more.

The Pedal Pawn fuzz is excellent for clean up.

What’s the Otters pocket going to be?

Gotta be a chorus right? ‘Wetter than an otters pocket’?

  • Interesting… the BC108 is the same circuit as the Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz eh?

It's a reverb. Box of Hall from Fuzz Dog. Yes the phrase is the 'wetter than', from the Viz Profanisaurus tee hee

I redid this one to make it better. Just waiting for some LED bezels to come in the post so I can finish it

I have several fuzz machines that all do things pretty well and may (or may not) suit your needs.

First up is a clone of a EQD Black Ash Endangered Fuzz. It's more like a three knob Tonebender than a Fuzz Face.
Second up another clone, this time of a ClusterFuzz. Very versatile and cheap as chips. Hand wired by someone on this forum but I can't remember who.
Third up is a Behringer Super Fuzz SF300. Proper, proper cheap as proper chips.
And fourthly, and mostly although the jury is out, I may, just may sell my Kingtone mini Fuzz Ge. Proper Fuzz Face melt and the best volume roll off sound I've heard, but I haven't used it for a long time.

Kingtone looks awesome but probably out my budget. Anyone got a Pedal Pawn or Fulltone ‘69 they’d sell?

I have been through a hefty amount of fuzzes and settled on a Dan Drive, brilliant but very pricey, I did try a pedal pawn and was disappointed tbh lot of hype around fuzzes and if you can get anywhere with a decent stock.  Maybe take your guitar in a try a load yourself

    good luck in the hunt

Kingtone makes an excellent fuzz pedal imho.  They are a good price for a great sound

  • Anyone tried the Dunlop minis? The ‘Hendrix’ and the ‘Bonamassa’ one both appeal.

  • I thought the pedal pawn one seemed very over rated.
My favourite circuit is the Analogman sunface. It’s fantastic. One day I will buy the real thing. But easily the best, the clean up is fantastic and it has a clean trimmer that can be made a pot

That's the thing fuzz circuits are so simple and you can get a great one without breaking the bank. My fave FF style is the EQD Erupter clone I built with external volume control. Pure filth with a pickup sim up front. The EQD costs nearly £200 and the volume is pegged on 10

Haven’t tried the fuzz but their mini Carbon Copy and Vintage Bass Octave are incredible pedals - very quiet in operation and no sacrifice in audio quality.

Yeah, an Analogman would be first choice. I bought a Sunlion on here for £350 about 8 years ago. They go for double that now. I also had a Cornell First Fuzz NKT white dot that I bought and sold for £200. As someone mentioned to me either here or in a PM, these pedals are at their best going into a cranked 100 watt Plexi. Hendrix, Marc Ford, the dude from Jayhawks and Lenny Kravitz guitarist are the sound I’m after… but only on a budget and through a 35 watt combo at levels that won’t get me an ASBO. The search continues…

Run it into a great overdrive then into your amp

I’ve got a Catalinbread DLS. Running that on Super Bass mode high volume, low gain does really make a fuzz face sound good.

  • I’ve bought a Dunlop Mini Hendrix (which is silicon 108 circuit) on eBay. I’ll post my opinions. Maybe this is better in the chat segment than the Fx£ bit. Sorry mods. Cheers for all input. I’d love to keep it going.

Might be willing to part with a GeGb by BMF FX. Edit; whoops just seen you bought the Dunlop

Would life to try the sun lion. There are a lot of Analogman clones out there if you don’t get on with the Dunlop. I am sure Roberty or myself could always make you one otherwise

  • So I got the Dunlop Hendrix Mini. The powder blue one. So far I’m loving it. Cleans up realllly well and sounds really thick when on full. Using a Catalinbread DLS and a Fulldrive 2 at the same time to tame it/thicken it up a bit.

It just does not play well with my wah though.

I had a Sold Gold Fx Spanish Castle fuzz that I sold on here that had a couple of tone/gain switches that made it so my way sounded great with it.

    The fuzz journey continues…
