After recommends for good value, small lighting rigs

StratavariousStratavarious Frets: 3112
Got a couple of band side projects needing some simple stage lights.  4-9 players.  Small/medium functions, etc.

Considering options between

- a couple of 6-12 bulb LED battens on the PA stands and a couple of PARs on the floor
- an all in one T bar with 4 lights/fx - are these cheap and nasty?
- some other combo

Should be relatively compact and quick to set up. Not too worried about DMX control.. but might be nice to switch to blackout.  Some simple colour cycling be fine.

Budget around £300

What you got?

Good suppliers?

Cheers…

    1. Light the singer(s) with spotlights which have incandescent bulbs. LEDs don’t have the same intensity and chromatic range. One spot top of each PA speaker, pointed across the stage. Eg https://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_par_30_e27_polished.htm £38 the par from Thomann. If you’re feeling flush add a straw coloured gel. Ours bolt onto the fly-mounting points of my SRM450s.

    2. Three of these at £75 each. https://www.djkit.com/equinox/equinox-spectrapix-batten.html. Put them on the floor until you can afford stands. Wire them together with one as sound-to-light master, and the other two as slaves.

    Total £263 plus xlr cables.

For simple to rig and carry a rope light will provide some light and mood on small stages, but will look chintzy and inadequate on their own. I have a couple of quality led batons which I supplement with a rope or two on occasion, handy to lay out front to delineate a stage/performance area and throw minimal light on faces without the singer whingeing about being blinded and can’t see!
    YMMV.
