As per the title, I’m looking to put some SRV style pups in my strat!

    Thanks to his Fender signature Stratocaster, SRV is strongly associated with Fender Texas Special pickups but he also used other types. For instance, mini Danelectro "lipstick" pickups in the Stratocaster colloquially known as Charlie.

    Did he ever actually use Texas Specials? From what I understand he used low output pickups but of course he was playing through cranked amps.

    The Texas Specials will certainly get in the ball park at more neighbour friendly volume.

    SRV used huge strings and had strong hands. Number One is described as "a 1962 neck, on a 1963 body, with 1959 pickups."

    Most folks hope to emulate SRV's sounds courtesy of 010-046 or, even, 009-042 gauge strings and overwound pickups.
