Stage snake boxes

I’m looking for one for our local venue, but I see most seem to be all XLR connections, with most of the open mic acts coming with jack cables…what’s your solution ?

DI boxes ?….adaptors ?

Di boxes are better with snakes because generally, if you are using a snake then the signals going down 15M or so of cable and that's a bit much for unbalanced operation, there will be a fair bit of noise.

CPC.co.uk have been a good source of snakes over the years for me

Thanks bud…I thought as much…I see Behringer do a 4 channel rack job Di4000 , about £80 used,,,,would this suffice ?

I would get 4 mono DI400 Behringer ones ... these are only £23 each but work fine .. basically just a transformer in a box which is the simplest design possible.
Basically you want to get the signal converted to lo Z balanced near the performer before my noise is picked up then run the DI output into the snake. The rack ones might seem neater but the cable runs to it will need to be longer assuming it's to the side of the stage so you will get noise in the signal before it's converted to balanced.

I know your on a budget but if it can be stretched I would suggest that you get the muting di from orchid as these should make the open mic changeovers less poppy!
