    About

The Manchester Guitar Festival includes three days of concerts, recitals, talks and workshops and pop-up performances, live from The Stoller Hall.

The festival will host big guitar names like Sean ShibeDaniel Martinez and Craig Ogden, alongside new and emerging guitar talent.

From classical and acoustic to electric, bass and flamenco, the 3-day festival is open to anyone with an interest in guitars. Whether you’re an amateur player, budding professional, session guitarist or just want to learn more about the world of guitars, there’s something to entertain all levels. Over the course of the weekend visitors and participants can work alongside professional musicians to develop their playing, listening and ensemble skills and watch professional concerts.

Drop in for a workshop or talk or stay to be entertained by international guitar talent. Sean Shibe is the first ever guitarist to be selected for BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme, he will kickstart the festival with a performance which spans both classical and electric guitar. Followed on Saturday by the Daniel Martinez Flamenco Company, where audiences can enjoy a rich variety of Flamenco styles; from the intense emotion of Seguiriyato to the joyful sounds of Alegria. Rounding off a sublime weekend of guitar music, Australian guitarist Craig Ogden will close the festival, performing works from Vaughan Williams to Malcolm Arnold’s Guitar Concerto, alongside the Northern Chamber Orchestra and students from Chetham’s School of Music.

Event kindly supported by Mark Griffiths.
