I’d seriously consider crazy parts guards. They’re not OEM but they’re definitely OEM quality and a perfect fit just like OEM. And usually their aging is better (if that floats your boat)!

Thank you will def look - I just got a black nos strat that’s picked up some nice real wear. Pick guard is a very new parchment still, so hoping for a subtle realistic mint green.

    Which is it to be?

I have a Fender AVRI '62 Stratocaster. Its pickguard is tinted in a way that is inoffensive but clearly fake. (The originals had a look of ping pong balls about them.)

I have thoughts of changing to a tortoiseshell 'guard. Perhaps, if I ever get around to this, the mint green original could be for sale.
    Be seeing you.

Well, my definition of realistic is limited by a reasonable price. The fender mint green seems to be a subtle enough of a mint for me, and at £40 new, its not cheap! Cheapo ones are clearly very neony. I'm sure there are 60's repros for £100-400 - but that i'd find more appropriate if replacing on an actual 62, maybe one day.

Having said that - finding a right torty seems much more expensive, which I am looking for my 64 sunburst strat, so if you find a good source for that, please do let me know!

I'll have a dig around my collection (former trader).
I definitely have a fender mint guard but not sure of condition (was used as a template) and might still have some repro guards, they are near as damn identical as far as I can recall. If not, I have a fender one on my 60's Original and could swap that over anyway.

Might also have some tort. They are cellulose (not printed plastic) but not the crazy dipped ones that are super accurate and super expensive (spitfire style).

Hi Steve, that's great thank you! Yeah a fender mint one would be great - the guitar is about 12 years old so a used pickguard would probably be better than a brand spanking new one anyway.

Re the tort, seems i need to figure what i want to begin with, those spitfires ones look tempting -maybe will find a second hand one (unlikely tho)

Found a new repro one, it’s identical in colour to the fender one and I forgot to add it has the truss rod scoop. Will try and dig out the used fender one and see how it cleans up.
