I've had a fascination with silent travel guitars and when I came across this new take being made in Greece I decided order one last October. I'll start off with a photo of the guitar in its case.

The guitar folds out to form a full size guitar which firmly clips into place. Four arms or brackets provide the feel of a full-size instrument. The spec for mine is left-handed classical with a 640mm scale length, 50mm nut width and flat ebony fretboard.

The build quality is very high -with the body beautifully made from Cherry. The case is cleverly designed so that you can either use it with the guitar folded or unfolded.

The electronics are by Artec - taking dual sources of an under saddle piezo and an in-body microphone. This provides, with the blend controls and the graphic equalizer, a very wide range of tonal options. I also bought a JBL GO 2 miniature amp as an add-on. This plugs into the headphone socket of the Artec unit and provides a very effective and portable sound. It came with a velcro strip to attach it to the side of the guitar but I'm happy just to let it dangle as it doesn't get in the way (please - no comments!)

What makes this particularly different and effective for a silent guitar, apart from the fold up travel aspect, is the creation of the 3D feel of a normal acoustic guitar with the arms - and being able to adjust the central arms for optimum playing position without the need for a strap or guitar support.

The sound and feel are outstanding with an excellent playing action. The founder of MOOV, Yorgos, has been extremely helpful and kept me fully up-to-date with the build process through to receipt. I'm over the moon with it.

More details and demos can be found on their website  https://www.moovguitars.com/ . In the meantime, here are some photos of my guitar (front, back and electronics with JBL amp).

I just spent a while on the website, and gave serious though to ordering one on the spot. The Bureau of Meteorology forecast heavy GAS this week, and I think they got it right.

This is defineately something to put on my A List for further consideration.

What a fabulous piece of design work, I love the innovation and approach he has taken.  Reminds me of the Brompton bike approach to making something different to the norm.

Please note: I originally posted this saying the body was made out of African mahogany, which was incorrect. It is, in fact made from a solid piece of nicely figured cherry which, according to Yorgos, has better tonal qualities for this type of instrument.

I can see the visual similarity but I tried playing Rossini's William Tell Overture on it and it didn't work. Perhaps I could tempt it with an apple ....
