Here's a tale for you...

I bought this from Roland last year and absolutely loved it. It got me playing and all was happy. However I have a problem. My music space is a converted garage and contains a door to the gas and electricity meter right behind the seat where I sit.

Now that the heating is on, that meter is busier and the RF interference is much higher to the point where I can't really use it in here. At first I thought it was duff shielding on my Eastman T386. Now that I've taken the Ultra upstairs to my bedroom with a pair of JBL LSR305 monitors, it's not the guitar that's the problem. It is the location and obviously I can't really relocate the meters. Maybe I could shield the entire door but FAFF. After upgrading my audio interface to an RME Digiface USB and ADI-2 FS converter and getting busy with an IK Z-Tone Buffer Boost as a frontend to Guitar Rig 5, I am happy with my setup (at least until I start programming the FCB1010 to turn plugins on and off in Kushview Element).

I'm therefore going to put the Ultra on the market for a happy price to someone. It is used, been gigged, and pots and encoder are OK. It is not as quiet as the latest stuff like the FM3. It doesn't have USB. Axe Edit works via MIDI. I've lost two screws out of the back panel because I am an oaf. It has marks on it. The amps and drives aren't as good as the modern stuff but the chorus, reverbs, delays, multitaps etc really are (and the ring modulator is bloody great. I can't say why, it just is). It would make for an ideal effects loop box.

This is the deal. £285 delivered via PPG. It'll be £15 for Parcelforce, I'll put £20 into the Fretboard account, and I'll have the rest.

Cos, any reason why I can't run it into the front end of a clean amp for time based FX?

I’ve run it both in the front end, in the effects loop, and into the amps FX return missing out the preamp. The only difficulty about going into the front end is that preamp distortion will be applied to any effects, which sounds different from applying reverb or chorus to an overdriven sound.

This ^ and you might prefer your own amp drive or overdrives instead.

If you think how much a Timeline or other similar quality delay units or MFX are, this is a good shout and a bargain - @Gassage ;;
