I find myself with isolators but no actual generator.

If anyone have one spare, from an upgrade to a G3 etc.

Please let me know.

You know you can use them with any 9v supply, right?

  • I didn't, but I like the flexibility of an IEC kettle lead that I can break down easy and change the length depending on the gig/ situation. I also put a powercon connector on my main board that I may replicate on the second board I am building (which is getting a bit out of control). I will also use the full 2meg afforded from the Generator.

The above suggestion will help me out in the short term though, till someone comes through on here.

I've been using a Johnny Shred Freak supply for years (similar to Diago Powerstation). I had a G2 pedalboard, sold the G2 inc. the Generator, but kept the rest of the GigRig power supply items. Any high-capacity switching supply with 9V output should work just fine. No need to worry about noise as you're using Isolators.

  • I get the concept. Though, Johnny Shed Freaks are hard to come by, the Diagio PS-01 is discontinued and it just feels a bit wrong to put a laptop charger between my IEC and my £1000+ pedalboard. Even if its 9v and has the miliamp headroom.

Also, most of anything not guitar related will be centre positive, so I assume I would need the hassle and, be it slight, further expense of a polarity converter. All in all though it may be £20 or so more expensive to have the Generator I think it is worth it to me for the peace of mind. Plus if anyone has one sat around already it would rather recycle something unused than buy something new (I await a Thumburg pat on the back).

    It's all just electricity! :)

Understood though - not worth buying something specifically. I happened to have the Shred Freak supplies kicking around.

    R,

I have not, so far, been able to source a gigrig generator at a fair price. Can you pm me with details of the Shred Freak supply, this may be my new best option.

    Andy,

Sadly, the JS supplies have been discontinued for some time also.

    How about this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265543437125
