     I ended up scrapping my attempt at this so i'm glad the deadline's been extended.

    Following on from his video, posted earlier in this thread, @poopot has suggested that the next Composition Challenge could be to compose music to fit some video footage, which I think is an excellent idea.

    Perhaps the challenge would be to provide general background music to some footage, so we don't have to worry about precise sync issues.

    A link would be provided to download the video footage and most DAWS allow audio and video to be combined (Reaper certainly does). Alternatively, I could combine the audio with the video.

    Any thoughts on that idea? Or are we getting a bit too complicated? I don't want to discourage people from entering.

    I’m happy to edit some footage together as a faux film intro… or we could take a chance and strip the audio from a proper film intro sequence… 

    most daws should allow you to import video into the project I think…

    That's a mighty fine idea. I think Cubase and Logic are more geared towards scoring to footage, but my DAW (FL studio) has this capability, and I know Studio One, Reaper and Cakewalk have suitable plugins also.

    Surely you'd need an alternative way to submit entries, as emailing videos won't be practical?

    1) entrants send the completed video via wetransfer - which will then be uploaded to youtube.
    or
    2) send the audio and either myself or stratman will add the audio to the video and render it for you… then upload…

    to be honest, I send massive video files to clients (almost daily it seems) and it’s never an issue… the video for this isn’t that long and it’s 720p so it’s not a huge file to start with…

    I see. It only occurred to me as I recently had a problem receiving some fantasy football updates as the spreadsheet exceeded 25Mb!

    I can't send emails greater then 35MB so I assume I won't be able to receive them either.

    But we've been doing some experiments and what @poopot described should work.

    I should have something for you this evening, i might do one last try of the vocals (this time stood up) but other than that I don't think I'll have any other time to get it any better than the current "trying to move past a demo" type level of polish
