@lustycourtier thanks I thought it was a pretty competative price too..
@Alex335 of course really I’m just envious
Fwiw I don’t have a view on the cost/value boreathon. It is what it is
GLWTKOTS, great pedals.
But - I'd like to think this forum is different from eBay and Reverb. Maybe it's a bit utopian, but I'd like to think this forum is for musicians selling directly to musicians.
eBay is for pretty much anyone, ranging from musicians to dealers to the general public to criminals trying to fence stuff, while Reverb is mainly a mixture of musicians and dealers, including music gear shops. So the prices on eBay vary wildly, while the prices on Reverb, on average, are pushed up by dealers trying to cover their overheads.
One thing I've noticed about this forum is that over time the general ethos in the classifieds section has gone from: "I'm going to sell this at a markdown to the general price" to "I'm going to sell this at market rates". The thing about that is - how then is that any different from eBay and Reverb?
There's been a huge spike in prices for guitars and gear over the past two years for various reasons which everyone knows about. OK, but the average prices on this forum now approach market rates, and I suspect that's because there was a massive influx of bedroom dealers onto the forum during the Covid pandemic. OK, the mods got rid of a lot of them, but the classifieds ethos changed too.
Now this is by no means meant to call @Alex335's motives into doubt - from what I can tell, he is absolutely a straight-up and down fella - as is @hyperben. Both of you guys regularly sell really excellent kit on here for very reasonable prices, and have done so for years.
In the case of Analogman KoTs - everyone knows that to actually buy one new, it only costs about £210, and the price is pushed up by the demand, and the ridiculously long waiting list.
So, as a consequence, KoTs on this forum priced at around £450 go quickly, while ones that are priced at £600+ tend to hang around.
I've got no objection to musicians making some money on the kit they sell on this forum. What I'd ask, though, is if you get a bargain - can you pass it on in the price? And if you didn't, then fair play.
Also, I'd also like to draw everyone's attention to another founding principle of this forum - please don't be nasty.
I think that some of us will pass on a bargain; I know ive done it several times.
Just a pointer though; a KOT from Analogman wont cost £210. The postage alone is about $65 dollars, and my recent one came into at about £350.
Sorry for the detour Alex
If you sell for less you'll probably see your buyer flip it on Reverb for a profit.
