I have the stock pickups from my Fender AV65. No covers. No screws. Conductors already cut to the correct lengths.

The black conductor from the bridge position pickup is only long enough to reach a "star" soldering point on the vintage-correct brass screening plate of the re-issue guitar.

If your JM has graphite paint cavity screening, you will need to solder an eyelet onto the black conductor and screw into the body wood.
    Be seeing you.

That all sounds quite complicated for a simple soul. @Dazza ; does this sound doable

Honestly I don't know. Its not a patch on a mastery but it's not terrible. It might get you up and running at least?!
