K&M 5 Guitar rack review ( and Thomann )
What's Hot
Having bought this rack, and being really pleased with it, I thought I’d share;
https://www.thomann.de/gb/km_17525_guardian_5_translucent.htmit’s a 5 guitar rack, with ‘lacquer safe’ clear polymer rubber , at all guitar contact areas.
the low black ‘dividers’ look like hard plastic, but in fact, are soft as well.
Simple and nil assembly needed.
And, although it’s for electrics, I can even fit my 000-28 copy in ( 4” lower bout)
but for the record , the acoustic isn’t staying .
Flying Vs won’t work though.
The guitars feel super secure in the rack, absolutely nil worries there.
Compared to the Hercules rack, which also looks great,
the K&M is more compact with a length of 688mm vs 1000mm for the Hercules .
However, it looks like you can fit more guitars into the Hercules 5 guitar rack, if you buy more dividers.
Then again , the K&M does not use foam, which in my experience compresses and splits over time,
with the weight of any guitar.
I would say the K&M is at the sweet spot for size.. Easy to get guitars in and out without knocking neighbours , yet looks/feels small.
The Thomann part of the review, is to say that their prices were inclusive of our VAT, no hidden charges,
and ‘click to delivery’ was a mere 4 days, so no Brexit blues there.
Guitar rack purchases aren’t featured as NGRD posts, but given the joy at decluttering a room,
perhaps they should be !

As for "when am I ready?" You'll never be ready. It works in reverse, you become ready by doing it. - pmbomb
I also checked it against a door ( i.e. no skirting board ) and it was fine with a strat headstock pointing towards the door. The clearance was tight here.

I brought a £40.00 fender one. It does the job but is a bit flimsy and I usually knock the other two guitars due to the spacing.
On the question of ‘up against the wall’ I guess a gretsch white falcon might need a bit of extra space to avoid the headstock touching the wall.
However, I don’t own one so cannot confirm either way.
