What's Hot
Picked me up a 1990 RG550 with an Edge trem and in good nick for its age. Has had the obligatory neck cracks etc etc Seems to play really well now I have set it up wit a fresh set of 10s and added a bit of relief to the neck...
Has a really old what looks like a Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 labelled 'JBL' bucker in the bridge. The guy that wired it had it so that it was on all of the 5 positions, so I re-soldered it to your average "I want this as lead and with middle" position. Not sure why anyone would do that but hey.
Removed back plate and truss rod cover as I'm a tweaker and they only slow me down.
The neck glue on the cracks was an old repair so I lightly sanded back over the crack to get rid of the join to touch. So you can see it, but you can no longer feel it. Its dead straight though, so Ibanez-itis and now it has a touch of relief, it no longer buzzes across the neck ( what is it with gauge 9 strings and zero relief, just sounds awful). Tung oiled it and now it plays great!
So I think I like either very, very FAT necks or very wide necks as this Wizard neck is anorexic. As it is wide as hell though I find it really comfortable. Who knew?
So I'm pretty happy with it as it is lightweight (well under 8 pounds on my kitchen scales), really resonant and the Edge is really smooth and holds tuning perfectly. Frets are also in great shape as well.
Great guitars and a lot of good ideas in terms of hardware that still hold up well to modern equipment I reckon.

I think (I'm pretty sure) Steve Vai played a green Charvel (the Green Meanie) with Zappa.
Loverly Ibby too. I gotta agree on the necks very comfortable

I like that period of ibanez. Before they started making the Korean cheap crap. Picked up my dream guitar from 93 not so long ago - a S540 burl mahogany. I wanted one of these when I got my PRS, couldn't find one so settled on the secondhand PRS. Good move considering how much I gave for the Ibanez.....

Here's Charlene

I should also say, Charlene came with Di Marzio pup's already installed, an Al DiMeola (Neck), NS-2 (Middle) and Double Whammy (Bridge), and the switch between the volume and tone seems to be a mids boost, with a slight amount of phasing.
Edit. The awesome Viz has agreed to see what he thinks on this switch too, I'm not 100% sure...........
