A very rare pair of 1978 Gibson “Tar back” pickups designed by Bill Lawrence and also known as far as I know, as a Super Humbuckers. Mostly found in 70’s SG’s, Es335’s and Explorer’s from what I have read.

This pair has the rarer clear Epoxy; most it seems came with black Epoxy.

They come complete with their original valuable Gibson M8 surrounds.

The pickups are in surprisingly good condition, the best Tar Backs I’ve seen and they look incredible for a pair of 43 year old's, there is however some very slight tarnishing on one of the chrome covers.

They come with their original height adjustment screws and springs. Both braided leads are 30cm long and both read 7.5 on a multi meter. This would suggest they are both bridge pickups as the neck versions had a lower impedance value, that said they match up very nicely and sound great together.
