Side Jack Loose

I've got a couple of acoustic guitars with side-mounted jacks rather than end-pin. I'm considering re-drilling them and installing an endpin connection, but what other solutions are available? These jacks (one in particular) is a standard jack socket mounted to a curved section of the guitar, which is an absolutely stupid place to put it as it just works itself loose within seconds.

Is there a solution you've used? A product available? Or should I just get the no-nails out and permanently solve it?

It won't work loose if you have a shakeproof washer on the inside and threadlock the nut.

(Cheap superglue is an acceptable threadlock substitute if you're very sparing with it.)

  • Threadlock almost seemed too simple as a fix, but you're right (as usual)
