Yeah buy mine in the classifieds - it was the best I found when I went shopping for a cheap 12-string a couple of years ago.

Easy, pick up an old Eko Ranger 12.
Cheap as chips, built to withstand being run over by a tank & they sound pretty good.
Had mine for decades & I still prefer it to the (on paper) infinitely superior LAG Tramontane GLA T200 DCE 12 that I bought on a whim.
Oh & they were good enough for some bloke called Jimmy Page too

the alvarez at andertons seems decent as it has a decent pick up - the LL bags stagepro

Ekos also have a big advantage over almost any other 12-string - the very things that usually offend acoustic purists about them... a bolt-on neck and adjustable bridge saddle. Combined with the truss rod these pretty much guarantee that you can get a nice low action on them.

They do have a very 'vintage plywood' sound, but not in a bad way. I find them warmer and more natural-sounding than most modern (or even old) cheaper 12s.

All true, also the zero fret really helps to get the action down too.
Mine is noticably lower than on most acoustics (& many electrics) & is still utterly stable & always buzz free, even when permanently tuned to standard pitch.
Any sensible person that saw a list of the specs on the Eko's would avoid them at all costs & yet they still manage to be greater than the sum of their parts.

^ At that price with the hardcase included it will be hard to beat without going second hand.
Factor in a few quid for a pickup & you could be sorted

thats what i am now thinking. at the current time i tend to prefer buying new (but discounted - so some of the reasale hit has already gone)

That's an insane price for a 12 string and hard case.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if I was looking for a 12 string, but....

Yamaha 12's are superb, and they have some of the best made necks and for a 12 their laminate neck would be very stable I imagine.

One of my friends has a cheap Vintage 12 string dread that’s a decent sounding thing.

Worth having a look at Faiths too.

Faiths look nice but you are then getting into the realm of thinking if I spend a little bit more I could get a taylor 150e or spend a little more and get a yahama ll16 which if its anything like my ljx36 will be amazing
