FOR SALE: Bare Knuckle Black Hawk Pickup Set £200 / Gemini Handwound humbucker Set £120

Awesome Bare Knuckle Black Hawk humbuckers - neck & bridge set, with gold radiator covers (bridge is ceramic, neck is alnico V, both wired with 4 conductors for coil splits/etc , and short leg fittings). Beautiful tone & strikingly classy look.

Bare Knuckle say "all the power and clarity of an active with all the tone and dynamics of a passive", which I'd say pretty much sums them up. What might surprise some people is that, although they're incredibly popular with metal & tech players, they're actually incredibly versatile - these really aren't 'metal pickups', rather they're 'pickups that can do metal brilliantly amongst other things'. I've used them for funk, blues, jazz, pop, rock ... They're very natural sounding & expressive - the sort of PUP's that bring out the tone of the instrument. My only reason for selling is the guitar they were in has been sold and the buyer already had PUP's he wanted to use.

Plenty of great demo's online (although most tend to focus just on metal & tech, but it's worth checking out some of the cleans as well. so you get a good idea of the intrinsic qualities of the PUP's themselves).

Condition is really good - I could have put 'excellent' but, like any covered PUP's that have been used a lot, if you want to be picky you can see signs of string contact with the covers; but only if you look closely.

New these would set you back around £350.

Handwound vintage style humbuckers by Gemini Pickups in the UK. The bridge is their 'Vampire' model, and the neck 'Nightwolf'.

The Vampire is described as "similar to a hot PAF, with subtly reinforced mids ...  the most open and warmest of the three high clarity humbuckers ...  an ideal mix of smoothness, power and bite ... the detailed top end provides clarity at all gain levels."

The Nightwolf is described as "underwound, maintaining top end clarity that could otherwise be lost with a softer magnet ... soft focus and creamy mids."

They are lovely, lovely PUP's - lots of info & sound samples at the Gemini site, and the main guy there (Bob) is one of the most helpful people I've ever dealt with (he's hand-wound PUP's for all sorts of boutique custom guitar builders and some great guitarists, including chaps like Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash). I've been holding on to them for a few years, thinking I'd drop them into another guitar; but needs must, so I'm having to sell some stuff I'm not using cos  right now finding some extra £'s has become rather necessary (!).

Condition is excellent. Short leg fixings.

    New they're about £80 each.
