WTB Strat middle pickup

To go in a HSH Strat so probably needs a decent output (but not high gain territory). Probably looking for alnico 5 but let me know what you have. Bonus points for a black cover.

True single coil or noise-cancelling stacked coils jobbie?
    Be seeing you.

I'm not really sure, I guess i'm open to all suggestions as long as they sound single coil-y. I'd probably be after something bright rather than dark sounding.

I was thinking more along the lines of how your HSH wiring would operate in selector switch positions 2 and 4.

    1. True single coil middle pickup with automatically split humbuckers.

    2. No splittage. Permanently full output and noise-cancelling.

It's going to be number 2 but i'm not a position 2 and 4 kind of guy, i'm just interested in the individual pickup sounds really.

One thing to note is that it will have 500k pots but will have a resistor wired to the middle pick up so it'll see 250k.

Seymour Duncan APS-1, Alnico II, staggered poles, bright/clear vintage Strat tone, and I can supply a black cover. £30 including postage.

    Any good?

Thanks @ICBM but I have a 9.5 radius fretboard so would prefer non-staggered poles.

No problem - that saved me from having to apologise for not actually having a black cover either :) ... I checked just after posting that and I must have sold them all.

@robwright do you know what the difference between the Stone Tone neck and middle is? Ash's website suggests output is the same.

Just spotted that I put the photo of the Iron Gears from the ad! Will change it now.

They are the same output so I would guess they are interchangeable? I don't know what else would be different if the output is the same - unless you can get a reverse wound middle pup, but that wouldn't  matter with HB's, would it?

Difference is mostly the option of reverse magnetic polarity and coil winding direction for noise-cancellation in selector switch positions 2 and 4.

This would matter in the middle position of a HSS guitar. It might force your choice of which coil of the humbucker gets used in combination with the middle pickup.

@robwright Hurry up and decide whether to buy that pre-owned OCP Stonetone. I wouldn’t mind using it with my flush poles Diamond Geezer.
    Be seeing you.

But presumably wouldn't be a problem for the OP's HSH config, @Funkfingers?

BTW, I'm selling the Stonetone - its @Johnnyseven who could be the buyer!

In that case, I would like first refusal if Johnnyseven declines to purchase.

I'll give the Stonetone a go @robwright ;but if it doesn't work for me i'll give @Funkfingers first dibs. Can you send payment details?
