FT/FS 22.5” Scale MIM Fender Duosonic Neck *update*
What's Hot
Morning, Right bit of an unusual one this.
A few years back (8 in fact)
@WezV very kindly took on a project to build a lefty Charvel Star type guitar for my the 6 year old lefty daughter as a birthday gift.
She loved it but didn’t do much with it at the time
Fast forward quite a bit and she’s now playing, she’s also now 5’10” and the short scale neck isn’t really working out so I’m thinking of swapping the neck out for a full scale one, and having got the rulers out it looks like a 25.5” scale neck with a Strat type heel will drop straight in with only minor intonation tweaks which is cool.(and obviously a left handed nut)
So anyone interested in this little curio ?
*UPDATE* no that’s not actually right, sorry!
I’ve had the rulers out again and I find my previous statement about the Duosonic neck working on a standard 25.5” neck pocket, bridge layout to be slightly wrong.
The thing is that when I was checking the measurements for this I was using an old Washburn G Jrv neck that I’ve got kicking about as the reference for a 25.5” neck. Now whilst it is a 25.5” scale 22 fret neck, the 22nd fret isn’t on an overhang like it is on a 22fret Strat neck. And whilst the Washburn neck did sit right in the neck pocket for the intonation to line up an actual Strat neck would sit too far back to work. So to extrapolate from that I think that if you wanted to make this Duosonic neck work on a guitar with neck pocket & bridge setup for 25.5” you would have to route the neck pocket 1 frets worth further into the body.
The upshot of this is I think I’m looking for a straight sale and I’ll probably end up using the Washburn neck
It’s in pretty good nick, couple of lacquer flakes which I’ve tried to capture, Was dressed and set up by Wez so plays as well as a neck this short can if you’re righty you’d need a new nut.
The tuners can be included in the deal especially if the neck you’re trading comes with some.
If you have a lefty/reverse neck to trade then all the better.
Looking for something of equivalent quality so Fender/Allparts would prefer a finished one as I don’t have spraying facility
Explorer type headstock would also work I guess
Would sell (probably without tuners) for £100 so please do let me know..
@Paulnb57 this has got you written all over it surely ?

I started reading this without realising I’d been tagged and I thought “ooo thats interesting!” then noticed the tag!
I know I don't have anything Southpaw, but I do have a couple of Allparts or Mighty Mite Strat necks, they are finished in Tru Oil though, I’ll pop up to the man cave (spare bedroom) and have a butchers...
