I played guitar on a few tracks on this album, including this preview track. She thought it sounds "too nice" so I was let loose with my Squier strat through an Earthquaker Erupter into my Hot Rod Deluxe for a fuzz-n-feedback good time. I'm quite surprised they kept as much in as they did! Next overdub was on the studio's Danelectro Baritone through my Earthquaker Levitation reverb and probably my Subdecay Vagabond trem with a direction to play "kinda like the Black Books theme". I improvised a couple of takes and they picked the bits they liked in the mix.

I really like the whole album, and I especially like it when my weirdo noise side gets the chance to meet with some really good songwriting.

I like that. Sounded quite haunting, could be used in a Tarantino film.

  • Fingers crossed! I might be able to afford to look at the classifieds then :-)

  • That's very impressive, liked the playing a lot & the sort of "present but distant" effect on the guitar.
Never heard of the singer/song writer, but she is very good too.  I've just been in a life sapping chain pub with utter cak dribbling out of the speakers, by people I assume are actually quite famous & then I listen to something like this... at least it's out there somewhere to be found.
    Excellent work anyway.

  • Thanks for the lovely comments! And yeah, Kirsty is really good. She's had some level of success (track on the credits of a film etc), but as ever, deserves to be much better known!

This is good stuff. Do you have any of your own work recorded?

  • The album is out now, so I can share the piece I'm most pleased with. The title track of the album, and I was asked to make a soundscape that sounded like NASA recording the sounds of distant stars. I turned on my "star sounds" effects (Red Panda Particle, Danelectro Reel Echo and a few others) through my Hot Rod Deluxe and the studio's Egnator Tweaker and it came out ok I think.

Nice. I also used a Ditto, and there are two takes playing simultaneously I think...
